What happened?
Lee County deputies say Leonardo Cruz Pena broke into a Super America gas station on Alico Road by cutting through the roof with a Sawzall. Investigators say he stole money, lottery tickets, and cigarettes before climbing back onto the roof, where deputies located him with a drone. When he ignored commands and jumped down, deputies say he ran into a nearby pond before being pulled out and arrested. The case stands out because of the roof entry, drone search, and bizarre attempted escape through the water.
